At Smiles of Tulsa we pride ourselves in offering our patients high-quality care aided by some of the best technology available. Futuristic 3D x-rays, video-streaming, and laser treatments are available today. Patients in the Tulsa, OK need only visit our office to benefit from these incredible technological updates in dentistry.
CBCT stands for “cone beam computed tomography.” It's a kind of 3D x-ray technology that we can use to help us get a better view of our patients' smiles. CBCT uses a cone-shaped x-ray beam that rotates a full 360 degrees around your head. The whole process is quick, less than a minute, and is painless. Perhaps best of all, CBCT uses less radiation than a tradition CT scan.
The Dexis Digital X-ray is a clear upgrade from older x-ray machines that relied on film. Digital x-rays expose our patients to 80% less radiation than film. With digital x-rays, the images are displayed instantly on a large computer monitor so we can share the information in real time. We can enhance and magnify areas to better educate our patients on the state of their oral health, and of course to aid treatment.
An intraoral camera is a handheld camera that's approximately the same size and shape as a large toothbrush. We use the intraoral camera, rather than small and difficult to maneuver mirrors that used to be necessary, to give our patients a clearer image of their oral health. We can move the camera around your smile and display images immediately on the monitor. The images can be enhanced, zoomed in, and stored digitally for easy reference later.
The Picasso AMD Soft Tissue Laser is an award-winning dental laser that we use in a variety of treatments such as soft tissue surgery, periodontal procedures, and even tooth whitening. Using this laser in soft tissue surgery, rather than a scalpel, greatly reduces trauma and bleeding, and shortens healing time. The laser works wonders for killing bacteria and reducing infection in periodontal treatment. We can use the laser to achieve brighter whitening treatments as well.
Our office uses digital dental charting to keep our records up-to-date and easily accessible. Before the advent of technology, we had to chart our patient's oral health on paper, and small inconsistencies in handwriting or coding had the potential to confuse. By keeping all our record digitally, we not only achieve a greener office, but we have also completely streamlined our records and patient care.
